The original hub for the local logging and fishing industries, Tewantin retains an old country town charm. Located on the Noosa River, it is home to the Noosa Shire Council offices, the Regional Art Gallery and several excellent boutiques, cafes and coffee shops.

Old Tewantin once housed the workers in fibro cottages on mostly 500sqm lots. Much of those have been demolished, replaced with newer homes. And as the population grew, larger alotments were created, from 600sqm through several small acreages in the heart of town.

Being the oldest of residential enclaves, it enjoys established trees and parks. Old Tewantin has seen enormous capital gains in recent years, and newer pockets of development within its boundaries.
